Keyword research for your SEO strategy

Keyword research is the first and most important step in any SEO strategy.

This keyword research is a huge task for two reasons:

If you position your online or web store for the wrong keywords, you may end up spending a lot of time and effort positioning yourself for terms that hardly receive searches, so your website will receive almost no traffic from those keywords.

Another common mistake, if you previously analyze the selected keywords, is that you try to position yourself for unreachable keywords since their competition is too high.

No matter how hard you try to create content, get links or do SEO On Page, you will never see results.

Among the common mistakes in SEO, the choice of inappropriate keywords is perhaps the most important and the one behind many failures related to positioning.

In this article I am going to tell you how to avoid both situations and how to find the best keywords for your project.

What is a keyword and what types of keywords are there?

A keyword or key word is a search term on which we want to position the online store or one (s) of the pages of our website.

A keyword can be a single word or a combination of words.

The use of suitable keywords in our project is a key factor, as we saw in the article the most important SEO factors for Google

Search Ranking Factors - by MOZ
In general we can classify a keyword in the following groups.

HEAD-TERM keyword: keywords made up of one or two words. Example: «children's fashion»

LONG-TAIL keywords: less generic keywords and made up of three or more words. Example: «floating floors for kitchens»

NAVIGATIONAL keyword: keywords used to determine a specific brand or website. Example: "Google", "Zara", "Initcoms"

INFORMATIONAL keywords: keywords used to display information on a specific topic. Example: «how to get ...», «which are the best ...».

TRANSACTIONAL keyword: keywords entered with the intention of completing a commercial action. Example: «buy shoes online», «hire SEO positioning», «buy cheap free mobile phone».

In most cases, it is recommended that you avoid Head-term keywords and Navigational-keywords, since they are usually so competitive that it will not compensate you for the effort and time that you will have to invest, and in many cases They are not sales-oriented (often the users who carry out these searches do not intend to buy or hire, but only to consult information).

The ones that interest us and on which we should focus for our SEO strategy are the long-tail, informational and transactional keywords.
Those keywords will help us to get more customers and more sales.
